Whether we have been following Jesus for years or just, today, decided to "know" Jesus as our "boss" for the first time, that decision was the start of a new life! So, what happens next? What makes that decision more than just words in another prayer? As new followers of Jesus, our relationship is like a tree seedling that has just been planted. Our relationship with Jesus has to be nurtured like a gardener would nurture a new seedling. Sometimes it will be watering and feeding, other times pruning, but it will always require attention if the relationship is to continue to grow and produce fruit.
